Last night was magical – it always is when The West Hollywood Women’s Advisory Board and the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce present The Women in Leadership Awards. The awards honor the achievements of local women in the professional and commercial/industrial business community. This year, the event was held at The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills, and Vanity Girl’s best selling Infinity Vanity Mirror popped up with NARS and the Real Real to bring glam to the civic achievements.
This year’s honorees were Sherri Franklin, Chief Strategy Officer, Muthatree WeHo; The Honorable Laura Friedman, California State Assembly; Annabeth Gish, Actress & Activist; Kamala Lopez, Actress, Activist & Executive Director of Equal Means Equal and Maya Paley, Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement, National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles.
Sherri won the Phyllis Morris Award, which is presented by her daughter Jamie Adler in collaboration with the West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. It’s such a special award because it’s given in memory of Phyllis, who was an incredible entrepreneur with a glamorous aesthetic and razor sharp marketing mind. When I won this award in 2016, I was completely humbled.
Sherri’s mother was in the audience, and her grandmother. Jamie gives the award in memory of her mother whom like me, she lost to lung cancer much too soon. It made me really miss my mother too – and my friend surprised me a bracelet that just has an amazing story behind it. More to come on that!
