#tbt Kim Thai’s 23rd birthday party at Sleek Hair

We were so honored to join the sponsor lineup for Beauty YouTube Sensation (and Millennial philanthropist) Kim Thai to celebrate her 23rd birthday at Sleekhair HQ.

The other amazing sponsors that night included:  Manna Kadar Cosmetics, Suja Juice, Coco Haus Life, Crown Brush, LA Girl Cosmetics, Gallany Cosmetics, Bh Cosmetics, Daily Concepts, Vera Mona, Ivy Love, Shop Oliposa Paper Flowers, NCLA, Flash Tattoos, Morphe, Stylecon and Laura’s Boutique!

Notable guests included YouTube Sensation NikkieTutorials (I’m obsessed with her channel) and my bae Beauty Editor Breanna Armstrong.

Yes, YouTube Beauty Sensation @NikkieTutorials just dropped by the party and created even more excitement!

Selfie time with Beauty Editor Breanna Armstrong

Joan (the COO of Sleekhair and a total fellow #girlboss) created a beautiful 3-hour shopping party packed with love, sweets, beauty goodies, surprise appearances and ended with an incredibly heartfelt pillow talk!  Vanity Girl partnered with Kim and Joan to giveaway a Pink Broadway Vanity Mirror to one lucky partygoer in honor of Kim’s cause – breast cancer awareness!

Thanks Kim & Joan for such a great party for a great cause.

P.S.  Stay tuned for my next post where I will talk all about the amazing walk the next day!

Our Pink Broadway Vanity was the grand prize in an Ahhhh-mazz-ing array of raffle prizes.  I swear, almost every attendee walked out with major beauty SWAG.

Girl Boss Talk: Vanity Girl x Makeup Mandy

Amanda Jacobelis, the founder and CEO of Makeup Mandy on Melrose was the first beauty pro who believed in my idea.  I had been going to her gorgeous little studio for years for makeup and lashes and when I told her about my Vanity Girl Hollywood idea  … and she invited me to be be a part of her (then) new Glam Space up the street.

Please come meet her in our FB chat below … she’s an amazing #girlboss.  She helms not one but TWO businesses and is mother of 2 young boys under 2.   And of course if you are in the LA area, make sure to make an appointment and experience her Red Carpet treatment.

Special thanks to Enoch Miller aka the Empress of WeHo for his FB Live Production help :)

Let me know in the comments down below or on Twitter who you want me to talk to next!  And if you are a Beauty Pro and what to glam out your space like Mandy did with our Made in LA Hollywood mirrors, SHOP HERE.

Beauty Brunch at The Roxbury Institute in Beverly Hills

I had the best time at the Beauty Brunch hosted by Vanity Girl Hanna Beth (you may recognize her from the TV show House of DVF) at the gorgeous Roxbury Institute in Beverly Hills. They describe it as “a luxurious center for anti-aging, cosmetic enhancements and internal wellness in Beverly Hills” and it is truly that.

We were treated to 3 treatments of our choice that day.  I opted for Botox, Thermi Eyes and a Collagen mask treatment.

Take a quick tour here on IG.

COO Sleekhair Joan Ng and her Vitamin C Mask and IV Therapy

SleekHair.com #girlboss Joan Ng and her Vitamin C Mask and Vitamin C IV Therapy:  Snap Video

My Experience:

Botox:  The first time I did Botox a few years ago, I experienced crunching in my forehead as the needle went in. Yes, crunching!  AND, my eyebrows ended up halfway up my forehead for a few weeks.  My friend and Beauty Activist Kenetia Lee asked me “why did you do that?” when she saw me.  It wasn’t on purpose :(

This time, Nurse practitioner Chelsea poked me with a much smaller needle a few times and there was no crunching.   My eyebrows remain in a normal spot and my forehead and eyebrows look pretty damn smooth now.  I can’t say that it’s a fun experience (I don’t love getting poked with needles) but I am loving the results.

Thermi Eyes:  This treatment is designed to de-puff eyes (there was an audible Yasssss! from the room when this was explained), lift brows (in a good way!) and stimulate collagen production.  It’s non-invasive.  This video from the Thermi site explains it much better than me.   It took 12 minutes per eye and I found it really relaxing.

Collagen Mask:  Jennifer Gerace is one talented woman.   Don’t take my word for it.  Look at her skin.  AH-mazing.  Look at Hanna Beth’s skin.  AH-mazing.   AND she was selected by Cameron Diaz as a model of aging gracefully for her book projects.  Like literally selected as a model. Time was limited (this was a beauty brunch after all and there were many of us) but I was treated to a luxurious Collagen Mask that left my skin hydrated and glowing.  In fact, we girls headed out for some shopping in Beverly Hills after the Brunch sans makeup!   I can’t wait to visit Jennifer again for one of her luxurious facials.

All in all, we had a really great time and felt pampered and very spoiled. Thank you Roxbury Institute and Hanna Beth for a lovely afternoon and thank you to my loves who joined in the fun.  Make sure to follow them for their beauty adventures and more:  @missashleydaniels, @sleekhair, @lovelyinLA and @brearmstrong.

Vanity Girl Hollywood at #BestofLA Beauty

It’s been such a great month to celebrate the woman most of us learned our beauty tricks from – MOM!

MomAngeles and LA Mom Magazine got together yesterday to host a special event in Brentwood  (one of LA’s meccas for spotting chic Moms – think Alessandra Ambrosia, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner).  The event targeted tastemakers and influencers on LA’s Westside.  Click here to watch the video by LA FOCUS Magazine (meet me at the 2:45 minute mark)

The event featured experts speaking on how to get that effortless Westside beauty look, and booths where attendees could get treated to blow outs, curls, massages and more.

We were excited to collaborate with fellow girl boss Theresa and her team of hair magicians at the Blo Beauty Bar.  The line never died down! We think very woman and chic Mom deserves fresh curls or a good flat iron beachy wave.

We brought our new Infinity Mirror and signature Teal Broadway vanity which was perfect for these Westside beauties to see their freshly styled hair.

Some of my personal faves from the other beauty brands included:  per-fekt beauty (I am obsessed with the liquid gold illuminating perfector thanks to my beauty bestie Jenn Chan); the Nourishing Cleansing Blam from BeautyCounter (I received mine in the PopSugar Must Have Box so I was thrilled to see them at the event) and I can’t wait to try the 30 Minute Treatment from The Face Bar which is (yaaayyy sooooo excited), in my hometown of West Hollywood.  A 30 minute peel for $69?  YES PLEASE (insert raised hand emoji here).

The SWAG bag was incredible so I will be posting more about new beauty discoveries, and in the meantime – here is the video!

About last night: #CincoDeBellami party

I had such a great time last night at the #CincoDeBellami party.  Usually, Cinco de Mayo means great tacos and margaritas for me here in Los Angeles … which I LOVE of course.  However, last night was all about high glam as the Bellami Flagship Beauty Bar rolled out the Pink Carpet right in the heart of the West Hollywood Design District for some of beauty’s brightest celebs, beauty editors and influencers.

Below:  Eva the Diva, Guy Tang and Lilly Ghalichi on the Pink Carpet.

Survivorship is beautiful!

We were so inspired when we heard the story of 17-year old cancer survivor Cristy Lara of El Paso, Texas.    When reporter Vianey Arana reached out to us and told us about Cristy and her brave battle against cancer, I knew we wanted to get involved.

I spent over 10 years working for the American Cancer Society, so this is a cause that is very dear to my heart.  When Vianey explained how much Cristy loves makeup and YouTube beauty gurus (pretty much like most girls her age),  I knew we wanted to help this strong young woman feel as glamorous and beautiful as possible.

Thrive Cosmetics – also a #girlboss company – also stepped in and I’m super impressed her mission.  She created her company after one of her dear friends _______.

The makeup artist onset did a really masterful  job bringing out Cristy’s glow.  Like Cristy says herself, she was already beautiful and his artistry just took it to the next level.
